Indian Journalist Association now in form to honor the journalists.
Kanpur Nagar, Uttar Pradesh.
A memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister, Chairman - Press Council of India, President National Human Rights Commission, Representative United Nations (India) along with the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh was submitted by the office bearers of Indian Journalist Association Kanpur Nagar Unit through the District Magistrate regarding the harassment of journalists by the police.
Indian Journalist Association Kanpur Nagar Unit through the memorandum demanded the above people to intervene in the murder of democracy.
The organization demanded 100% compliance of the order sheet number DG-8-140 (25)2017-19 dated 15 November 2019 of DGP Uttar Pradesh in the memorandum. In which DGP Uttar Pradesh has said that on receiving a complaint against journalists and their family, a case should be registered only after investigation by a gazetted officer. Journalists should not be implicated in false cases, but Kanpur Police registers a case against journalists without investigation, after which an attempt is made to strangle democracy by harassing the journalists.
According to the information received, on 24th July 2024, Raipurwa police station registered a case against local journalist Muqeem Qureshi in Raipurwa police station in contempt of the order of DGP (on the complaint application of the Executive Engineer of KESCO), in which no investigation was done before filing the case, due to which the image of the journalists was getting tarnished.
Indian Journalist Association Avadh Pradesh Patron Ashwani Dixit, while giving a memorandum to the journalists, told that before the case was registered in Raipurwa police station, journalist Muqeem Qureshi had exposed the corruption of Executive Engineer Arun Kumar, but Raipurwa police station did not take cognizance of that news and hastily registered a case so that pressure could be created on the journalist. He further said that today, on exposing the corruption of the officers, the same officers register a case against the journalists, and the police, which makes the common man run around for months to file a case, registers a case against a journalist on a complaint without investigation, which is a contempt of the order of the senior-most police officer of the state. Prominent members present in giving the memorandum were Avadh Pradesh General Secretary T.A. Lim, District Executive President Irshad Siddiqui, District Vice President Nazim, Amit Kumar Trivedi, Ali Khan, Minister Aman Khan, Shivam Mishra, Jitendra Shukla and others.
