A grand reception was organized in honor of first-year M.A. students in the Urdu Department of Gorakhpur University. All faculty members, students, researchers, and a large number of new students were present. The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by student Anwar Hussain. Saima Khatoon then performed Naat-e-Rasool. With the permission of the chairman of the ceremony, the program formally began. Muhammad Rafe and Nida Israr gracefully conducted the proceedings.
The welcome poem was presented by Naima Nigar, Nazia Nigar, Kulsum Bano, and Anjum Sahar. In his enthusiastic welcome address, Muhammad Rafe, a second-year M.A. student, welcomed the new students, saying, "Today is a day of joy and pride for us as new soldiers join our academic caravan. We hope that all of you will not only gain knowledge here, but also keep the flame of Urdu literature burning through your character and actions."
In his presidential address, the distinguished guest, Professor Kirti Pandey (Dean, Faculty of Arts and Head of Department, Urdu Department), said that this welcome ceremony sends a message of new energy, new dreams, and new resolve. Education does not only mean obtaining a degree, but also improving lives and bringing positive change to society. Taking advantage of the breadth and depth of the Urdu language, you should all make your mark in the fields of research, creation, and criticism.
Dr. Mehboob Hasan (Assistant Professor, Urdu Department) expressed his views, saying that the welcome ceremony is not just a ceremony, but an intellectual tradition that establishes an educational connection between senior students and newcomers. The journey of knowledge is meaningful only when it includes ethics, research, and service to humanity.
In his address, Dr. Sajid Hussain Ansari (Assistant Professor, Department of Urdu) advised the students that literature is not just the beauty of words, but a mirror of human emotions, experiences, and observations. If you love literature, it broadens your thinking and makes life meaningful.
On this occasion, first-year MA students introduced themselves and participated in various cultural activities. Prizes were also presented to the two best-performing students, Muhammad Zaib and Taha Fatima.
At the end of the program, Amina Khatoon, a second-year MA student, expressed her gratitude, saying, "We are grateful to our teachers who always guided us. We pray that our new colleagues become shining stars in the sky of Urdu literature."
