Indian Journalist Association Zonal review meeting was held today at the divisional office Sutarkhana. Journalist Irshad Siddiqui Assumes Office of Kanpur Nagar District President.
While reviewing the division, Avadh State Patron Ashwani Dixit said that at present journalists are being attacked, journalists are being killed, but the government is not taking any steps for the safety of journalists.
He said that journalists are being killed not only in Uttar Pradesh but in all the states of the country.
The members of the association expressed anger over the murder of Chhattisgarh's late journalist Mukesh Chandrakar and demanded from the government that the killers should be hanged and one member of Mukesh Chandrakar's family should be given a government job along with financial assistance of one crore rupees to the family.
Newly appointed District President Irshad Siddiqui thanked National President Seraj Ahmad Quraishi and Mandal President Muqeem Ahmad Qureshi on assuming the charge of District President. He said that the way the National President and all the units of Indian Journalist Association have been fighting for the rights of journalists, they will give more edge to it. He said that they are always ready to solve the problems of journalists.
Uttar Pradesh General Secretary T.A. Lim blessed the newly appointed District President and wished him a bright future and assured the newly appointed District President that all the units of the state will support Irshad Siddiqui.
Zonal President Kanpur Muqeem Ahmad Qureshi congratulated the newly appointed District President on assuming the charge and said that journalists raise the problems of the public but no concrete measures are being taken by the government for the problems of journalists. Today journalists are living a pitiable life. The neglectful attitude of the government towards journalists is condemnable. Prominently present in the program were Avadh State Patron Ashwani Dixit, State General Secretary T A Lim, Zonal President Kanpur Muqeem Ahmad Qureshi, Raman Shukla, Nazim Ali Khan, Anil Singh Chauhan, Aman Khan, Krishna Awasthi, Mohd.
